In order to maintain a functional independence level, we want to offer a few suggestions to make your stay happy and comforting. One way to further promote our Resident’s independence is to have appropriate clothing and belongings present in the Resident’s room. In order to promote this sense of independence we suggest that the Resident have items that are everyday or normally used items. Here is a sample list of common items to use as a guide when preparing for the Resident’s stay at Shawnee Care Center.
Loose Fitting shirts:
- Button-up and pull-on
- Sweatshirts
- T-shirts
Loose Fitting pants:
- Button/zip and pull-on
- Sweatpants
- Slacks
Housecoats and Dresses
Underwear
Undershirts
Bras
Stockings and Socks
Shoes with rubber soles and foot/ankle support
- Non-skid socks are okay, but also bring shoes
- Tennis shoes work the best- Velcro or lace up.
Pajamas
Robes
Light weight sweater or jacket
Toiletries
- Make-up
- Shaving supplies
- Oral hygiene supplies
- Hair care
- Deodorant
Any splints, orthotics, prosthesis or equipment used.
Any favorite blankets, pillows, quilts or other comforting/familiar items.
You are free to decorate the Resident’s room with pictures and personal furnishings to make the Resident feel at home.
